Sekisui Specialty Chemicals recently participated in the annual STREAM Night hosted by Jensen Elementary School, an engaging community event designed to spark curiosity and excitement around Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art, and Math (STREAM).

The event welcomed approximately 200 students, ages 4 to 10, and their families for an evening of hands-on learning across the campus. Teachers and community partners set up activity stations where students could explore STREAM concepts through interactive demonstrations and experiments.

Sekisui Specialty Chemicals hosted one of the evening’s most popular activity stations—a slime-making table. Students had the opportunity to create their own slime while learning about the materials and chemistry behind it. Many of the younger students were thrilled by the sensory experience of making and playing with slime, while older students found it especially interesting to learn that a major ingredient used to make slime is produced right in their own community. This activity helHped connect a familiar and fun experiment to the real-world work happening at a local manufacturing facility. In addition to the activity, the Sekisui team also handed out blue light–blocking glasses and drawstring bags as giveaways for participating students.

The event also provided opportunities for meaningful conversations beyond the hands-on activity. Many students attended with older siblings who were curious about career opportunities in manufacturing, asking Sekisui team members about what it is like to work in a chemical plant and the types of careers available in the industry.

“It was great to see the whole family enjoying the science together,” one team member noted. The evening reinforced the value of connecting local industry with students and families; helping them see how STREAM subjects translate into real-world careers and innovations.

Sekisui Specialty Chemicals was proud to support this community initiative and help bring science to life for local students. The team looks forward to hosting another activity table at STREAM Night next year, and continuing to inspire curiosity in the next generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators.
